Dear Patty and the Burke Family,
My sincerest condolences and offered sympathies of
hearing of Chief (“Bob”) Burke’s passing!
Like for so many of us, He was an extremely great leader and personal mentor to me during my 30 year Law Enforcement career! Bob will always be remembered as a genuinely good person to he was all and as a “true gentleman”, while always prioritizing people first with an “open door” policy to openly communicate with his personnel of all ranks!
Bob,….May You Rest in Eternal Peace and Your Soul Fly High with the Angels in Heaven! Thank you for your presence for so many years and for your immeasurable positive influence bestowed upon us All!
God Bless,
Angelo Gentile

Dear Patty & family,
Kathy & I received the news of Bob’s passing with a heavy heart. As you know,I was privileged to serve with Bob during my career, first in the 79 Pct., where we tragically buried 2 officers, Norman Cerullo & Christie Masone, who were cut down in their prime in April of 1978. As the commanding officer Bob took it very hard, especially having to juggle a tragedy & celebration of life, when his wife gave birth to twin daughters at the same time. Later, I served under Bob’s command in the Intelligence Division, when he assigned me as a body guard to the City Council Speaker, where I spent the next 18 years. Bob & Patty also served as my “ masters of ceremonies “ during my swearing-in ceremony as US Marshal for the SDNY. Whatever success I achieved, I attribute to Bob’s council. During our retirement years the Burke’s spent many summer months with us at our Florida home. Bob & Patty became like family to us & we will miss all those times spent together with them & their family. Bob had a brilliant career & helped mold the careers of many officers under his tutelage. May God welcome him into his heavenly domain. I salute Bob on a life well served & may the Good Lord Bless him & his family. He will be missed.
