Obituary
Richard (Rich) Kenneth Chin, of Elwood, NY, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022.
Rich was born on December 5th, 1956 to Cliff and Marie Chin in Astoria, Queens. The family moved to Flushing, Queens, where he attended elementary school at PS21, Bleeker Junior High, and then Flushing High School. It was there where Rich forged friendships with so many of his schoolmates – friendships that would last a lifetime.
In high school Rich spent his summers working at the Happy Days Ranch in Bethel, New York where his love of horses and horseback riding began. He created lasting memories that included leading group trail rides, riding horses bareback through the fields at night and cow tipping (or so the story goes…), amongst other fun activities.
In the summer of 1979, Rich embarked on a cross-country road trip with one of his best friends that would become one of the most memorable highlights of his life.
In 1980, Rich met Ronnie, fell in love, and officially became team R&R in 1984. They went on to have two beautiful children, Greg and Stacey, and spent over 40 wonderful years together.
Rich had a long and successful career in the insurance industry. After retirement, Rich spent time with his wife enjoying their love of outdoor activities which included golfing and fishing, trying new eateries (while he loved all foods, his love of Chinese food was unmatched), and traveling, to name a few.
Rich will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, his kind, generous, and fun-loving personality in addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Ronnie; son Greg (Ryan) Chin; daughter Stacey (Steve) Longo; grandson Lucas Longo; parents Cliff and Marie Chin; brothers, Peter (Gail) Chin and Kenneth (Suzy) Chin; in addition to many extended family members.
