Obituary of Elsie Jane Van Cott
Van Cott- Elsie Jane of Babylon, LI on August 9, 2017. Jane asked us to let you know that her work here is done. She was offered a new assignment she couldn't refuse. The bonuses are infinite time with her beloved husband Jack, daughter Kathryn, and other family and friends, impeccable health, boundless cruises, and an unlimited supply of yarn. True to her meticulous personality, she left detailed instructions for her surviving family: son Jay(Pamela), grandchildren Andrea(David), Sara(Chris), Shannon, Eric, Michael, and great-grandchildren Garet, Ariana, Nathan, Karys and Kathryn. We want to tell you that she did a great job raising her family, caring for friends, and giving to her community. We will remember her for her sense of humor, energy, love of learning, and her family gatherings. She made a difference in the lives of many. After high school, she entered training in the U. S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII. She worked for 26 years as a Nurse, Teacher, Administrator in the West Islip Public Schools. Upon retirement, she continued working in real estate, travels, and crocheting with the West Islip Homemakers. Reposing at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). A religious service will be held at the funeral home, Monday 9:30 AM. Interment Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, LI. Visiting Sunday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
