Obituary

Eleanor Gloria Morris, 94 years of age, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 17th, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 9th, 1930, to Albert and Viola Golinski, the eldest of their two children. Her beloved brother, Richard (Colette), predeceased Eleanor by almost three years. Following her graduation from Jamaica High School in 1947, Eleanor found employment in New York City in a variety of clerical roles. Soon thereafter, Eleanor met the love of her life, Bernard “Barney” Morris, a WWII veteran who served in the United States Army. They were married in 1951 and began their realization of the American Dream by starting a family and relocating to the suburbs of Long Island. It was here that their three children, Paul (Kathy), Nancy (Roger Tumbarello), and Roger (Michelle), were raised in a loving home. Years later, Eleanor rekindled her office skills to manage a local appliance company; however, it was always family that most mattered. They loved the outdoors and traveled extensively, camping across the country with their trailer. Eleanor loved gardening and going for walks in local parks. Despite the passing of her devoted husband in 1994, Eleanor continued to hold him close to heart while traveling the world with a variety of friends. She cherished being the grandmother of Rebecca, Amanda, Ashley (Parker), Sean (Deby), Jennifer, and Tara. She was also the great-grandmother of Isabella. The beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend of so many will be greatly missed. She has left us all with beautiful and bountiful indelible memories.
