Kathleen “Kay” Prazak, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 26th, with family by her side. Born March 11, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the loving daughter of Edward and Anne Wilson. Kay graduated from Massapequa High School in 1965, excelling as an athlete playing field hockey and softball. She became a collegiate athlete, continuing her love for sports while pursuing her degrees at Nassau Community College and Stony Brook University. Kay married her loving husband, Donald, on June 25, 1972. While raising her children, she took on the challenge of obtaining her master’s degree in physical education at Adelphi University. This allowed her to apply her passion for health and fitness to her desire to coach and teach.Kay became a physical education teacher at St. Anne’s Catholic School (Brentwood, NY) and later at St. Ignatius of Loyola (Hicksville, NY) and Our Lady of Providence (Central Islip, NY), where she taught generations of children about the value of fun, activity, and competition. As a mother, she encouraged her children to participate in sports. She also felt drawn to the sport while supporting them on the sidelines of their soccer games. Without any previous soccer experience, she joined the women’s league and became a Shooting Star. The ladies she met were not only teammates, but they also became lifelong friends. Along with soccer, she took her kids on many adventures. Whether on the slopes or camping adventures up and down the East Coast, she fostered a love of the great outdoors. An active runner, swimmer, and biker, she never shied away from a challenge and outcompeted her children until she could no longer. Kay also became an avid golfer, frequently cruising Gull Haven Golf Course greens.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her children, Kristine Prazak-Davoli (Eugene), Lisa Prazak-Stockwell (Glenn), Michael Prazak (Betty); and her grandchildren, Hunter Stockwell and Edward Stockwell. She also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues accumulated over the span of a life well lived. Family, friends, and others whose lives Kathleen touched are invited to celebrate her life.
