Ruth Marie Sullivan October 5th 1952 – March 24th 2024 Ruth was raised in West Islip NY, daughter to Christian and Ruth Flory. She was eldest sister to Christian, Tara, Ellen and Agnes. Ruth graduated from West Islip High School in 1970 and went on to St. Johns University where she obtained a BA in Mathematics in 1974. Ruth ultimately continued he education completing her graduate degree at Columbia University in the field of Computers and Education in 1982. Ruth started her career as a mathematics teacher before transitioning to the field of computer science. At the time of her retirement in 2016 Ruth was the Director of Desktop Operations for National Grid USA. Ruth was not just an accomplished professional but a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband David, sons Sean and Brian, granddaughters Lucy, Claire, Molly, Maeve, and grandsons Ciaran and Owen. Affectionately known as Gigi, Ruth loved spending her time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Words cannot accurately describe the true generous, considerate and self-sacrificing nature of Ruth Sullivan. Neither is it possible to illustrate the immense void that is left following her untimely passing. Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, compassion and love. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
