Obituary

On Thursday February 1st, William Timothy Callahan, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and prankster suddenly passed away from a heart attack surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old. Bill was always the funniest guy in the room and the life of the party. He loved rock and roll, attending over 400 concerts in his life. He loved the Islanders, Jets and Mets, attending over 600 games. But most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an amazing dad and "Pa" who dedicated his life to his kids and grandkids. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled. Bill is survived by his loving wife Laurie of 42 years, his children and best friends Dan (Beth) and Faith (Cameron), his grandchildren and the lights of his life Caden, Jack, Oliver, and Palmer, his sister Mary (Ben) who was a second mother to him and also a victim of his many pranks, his brothers and partners in crime Tim (Terry) and Mike, his beloved pug Sampson, his mother-in-law Carmela, his nieces and nephews, the DVR Extender who was like a 3rd child, his many friends and former co-workers who enjoyed hilarious late night texts about his life, Leo and Paul who went to every concert with him, the many kids that he coached in hockey and soccer throughout the years, and his idol Larry David. Bill's last text was this quote from Larry David: "I think I did my best as a person who hates people but still has to be amongst them". Everyone has a Bill story and we'd love to hear them all. Please share a memory of Bill on the tribute wall on this website. Visitation will be held at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in East Islip on Friday February 9th between 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held St. Mary's Church on February 10 at 9:15AM.
