Michael J. Cestaro September 6, 1933 - January 31, 2024 Michael J. Cestaro, 90, of Wading River, formerly of West Islip passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson surrounded by family. He was born on September 6, 1933, in Brooklyn to Michael & Marie Cestaro. Graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High. He was united in marriage to Lily Passarella, his lifelong love and companion of 70 years. Mike worked as a fleet maintenance VP Wake-fern Food Corporation- Director Fleet Supervisor Associate Freight where he then retired. Mike was involved with the K of C for over 50 years and was honored to be a Past Grand Knight. Mike had a true love and passion for his family, faith, miniature horses and bred ponies for over 40 years. He also loved gardening, cigars, his love for family. Mike is survived by his 8 children: Robert (Kathy) Cestaro, Mary (Russ) Clark-Bartlett), Edward Cestaro, Micheline O'Brien, Judith (Thomas) Jones, Michael (Lisa) Cestaro, Sam (Linda) Cestaro, Lilianne (James) Luppens. Blessed with 24 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren. Sister Joann Lauritano & Brother William Penney. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lily on January 30, 2022, and siblings Kathleen D'Angelo, Herman (Dutch) Cestaro & Patricia Stanco-Spring, Daughter in law Diana Cestaro, & Grandson Donald P Curry. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday, February 6th at Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, Inc, 1225 Montauk Hwy, West Islip, New York. A mass will will be held at 9:30am, Wednesday, February 7th at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 455 Hunter Avenue, West Islip, New York. Michael will be laid to rest following the mass at North Babylon Cemetery.
