Obituary

Edward G. Colligan, age 81. Loving husband of 56 years to Eileen (nee Lee); adoring father of Mary Ann Bergen (Eric) and Michelle McDonald (Michael); grandfather of Patrick, Michael and Bridget Bergen, and Sean, Keira and Niamh McDonald; son of the late Mary (nee Curran) and Edward J. Colligan; brother of Eileen Colligan (David), Mary Sullivan (Dennis), Patricia Tessitore (Gordon, deceased), Nora McBrien (William), Margaret Kiernan (Najib), Christine Wilson (Frank, deceased), Suzanne Sopko, Kathleen Hubner (Carl), Regina Hays (Al) and David Colligan; beloved uncle, great uncle, godfather and friend of many. Ed cherished family gatherings; dancing and vacationing with his wife and best friend; watching his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews shine in their many endeavors; tinkering with cars and appliances; and was very proud of his time serving the nation in the Air Force and as a Police Officer (NYPD and Suffolk County). He always made time to be present for friends, family, and God. He passed away January 23, 2024 in Grand Cayman (his favorite spot) with those he loved most beside. Funeral Mass Friday, February 2, 2024, St. John Nepomucene Church (1140 Locust Ave. Bohemia, NY 11716), 10 A.M. Burial to follow at Calverton National Cemetery (Wading River, NY 11792). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Edward’s name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
