Obituary

Richard Donald Sieglen of East Islip,NY, 85 years of age, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was survived by his wife Teri of 61 years, his daughters Donna Orlich (Frank), Janine Spiezio (John) and Doreen Moger (Tim). Also survived by his 10 grandchildren. Richard was born on May 30,1938 in Queens, NY to the late Louis and Lillian Sieglen. He was the oldest of 3 children, his sister Marie Schomaker and late brother Donald. He moved to East Islip, NY in his late teens and joined the Army at 17. He served 2 years and was honorably discharged in 1957. He returned home and worked in a bowling alley and at CI Psychiatrist Hospital as an orderly. He met his Wife, Teri, and they were married on October 13, 1962. They resided in East Islip and raised their daughters there. Richard was then working for Commander Oil as an oil boiler mechanic for several year until they sold to Petro. He worked with them until he left to work at ABC fuel from where he retired. He was a very loving husband, father and grandpa to his family. Many memories were made from family outings to family vacations. He was also a doting grandpa, bringing the kids to the park or to the candy store or just going for walks with them. He was loved by many and will be very much missed. Heaven has gained Angel and he will be shining on his family.
