Very sorry to hear of Kevin's passing; I only heard about it today (12/31/2023). He was a boyhood friend of mine in St. Joseph's Parish, Astoria, Queens.
I have many funny stories about Kevin like the time I forgot my cassock and surplus for a funeral mass and Kevin told me to go around the corner to his apt. and his father would be home to let me in and I could borrow his cassock and surplus. Nobody answered the door at his apt but the lady next door said I could go out on the fire escape and go through Kevin's apt window and borrow the cassock and surplus. I did that but found Kevin's father staring at me climbing through his window. He didn't mind. The Luceys were kind people. I was dismayed.
Another time, I was on first base and the first baseman kept spitting on my shoes. I told the first baseman if he does it one more time, I was going to smack him one. He did and there was a melee at first base. Kevin helped break up the fight and escorted me home to my mother. I came in the door crying and my mother thought the other kid beat me up. Kevin said "No. Mrs. Quinn. Jimmy beat the other kid up. He's just upset after the fight".
That was Kevin. Always helping others and going out of his way to do it. That was the career he chose also.
I last saw him in Grand Central Station 8 years ago. He will be forever missed and always remembered.

Kevin lived in Astoria, Queens as I did when we both attended Cathedral Prep. He learned to drive and he had a car. We had school on Saturdays. He used to drive me to school on Saturdays whenever he could do so. I always appreciated that. He was a very good guy and the class respected him. May he Rest In Peace.
