We started as 'family friends' but developed an actual friendship in more recent years. He was a 'stand-up show-up' friend: warm, bighearted, gallant and generous. Also cool. Rest easy, beautiful friend.
Sending prayers for his soul's journey, for his children, for Peggy and Tracy, and everyone who loved him.

Joey was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a thoughtful man. He was always thinking of us, even when he didn't answer his phone lol. Whether it be a shirt you needed for an event, flowers to brighten your day or a christmas tree. If you told him you needed something, he'd help you find it, and it would be perfect, just what you thought you'd never find. And he made the search fun. He was a sharer, maybe too much sometimes. We would get mad when we shared with him because he would always take the best bite, whether it'd be a sandwich or an ice cream cone. The thing was, as upsetting as it was for someone to take that perfect bite, he would always give you the best of what he had. That's the thing about Joey, what came off as selfish, really wasn't, he took the best from you, because he would always give the best without a second thought. If Joey loved you, you got his best. No matter what you thought and how you gauged “best”, everything he gave to those he loved was the best he could do. I respect that so much about him. He tried so hard every day for those he loved. He was a mess, but as he put it a hot mess. He was constantly on the go, losing his keys or phone. Getting out of the house was a chore on a good day, he always had so many things to bring with him on the daily. I'll miss him popping back in for something he forgot.I'll miss even more finding gifts he left when you didn't even know he was there to begin with. Fighting with him was the worst, somehow no matter what he did, you couldn't stay mad at him, you'd end up laughing and that really sucked because sometimes you really wanted to be mad at him and you just couldn't. He never denied anyone's pain. If you called him and said this is horrible, he'd second it. He was the ultimate supporter. And if you called him with good news he was even more elated than you were. He had a healthy appetite for life and for food. If you wanted to go out for something yummy he'd never say no. He laughed, a big boisterous beautiful laugh, especially at his own jokes. His humor was unmatched and sometimes unwanted. Spending any amount of time with him was guaranteed to make you smile. You could always count on him for a fun day. Joey loved his family. He was so very proud of his children. When he spoke of them he beamed, and when he spent time with them he glowed. The three best things he ever made were Jack Max and Allie. He adored his siblings and counted on them and relied on them to get through life, as did they. Joey was the most unreliable reliable guy you'd ever meet, he'd show up, it was just a matter of when. He was the fun uncle, and thank goodness for that, he was cherished by his nieces and nephews. He was a treasured friend, clearly because most of his best friends are from childhood, and what an honor that is, not many are lucky enough to have that. He will be deeply missed by many, thankfully he was a lot, so we have so much to remember him by until we meet again.
