Obituary

Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Younghans passed away on December 6, 2023. She was 67 years old. Dot was born on August 3, 1956 at Horace Harding Hospital. She graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, New York. Dot was a monitor at Seaford Middle School in Seaford, New York. All the students loved her because of her warm heart and kind smile. She also worked as a mortgage consultant for AFS. In the summer of 1969, Dot met William Younghans at the Oceanside pool. Dot and William were married at St. Christopher’s in Baldwin on April 24, 1976 and went onto have three children, William (Courtney), Jack (Donna) and Kristine. She has six grandchildren, William (Steven), Lucy, Zack, Allie, Jack, Tyler, and two granddogs (Boomer and Max). She loved going to the horse races and watching all sports (football, basketball, hockey) with her family. She especially loved attending all her grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on from the stands, recording their free-throws and yelling at the refs. She cherished family vacations and enjoyed cruising. She loved to gamble and always got lucky at the craps table. And she loved her family above all else. She was the most loving and giving mother, and the proudest and most devoted grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.

.

Dot is predeceased by her mother and father, George and Gladys Faller, her brother, Gregory Faller, and sister, MaryJane Montgomery. She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Monahan (Jack Monahan) and Marguerite (Peg) Liardi (Pete Liardi). She had dozens of treasured nieces and nephews: Jeanie Monahan, Katie Baldo, Jen Gilmore, Taylor Atkyns, Vincent Liardi, Megan Sykes, Cameron Liardi, Brooke Holzhammer, Emily Faller, Lydia Rodriguez, Kenny Faller, Michelle Rowland, Paul Rowland, Tommy Kaminski, John Kaminski, Matt Rowan. Services for Dot are Sunday, December 10 at Chapey Funeral Home in Bethpage from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9. The funeral will be held at St. James at 9:15 on Monday, December 11.
