Obituary

Edward George Flieger, 78, of West Babylon, NY, passed away on November 14, 2023 after a prolonged illness. He was born on January 17, 1945 in Jamaica Queens, NY, to the late Edward C. Flieger and Dorothy (nee Law). Ed is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Beverly (nee Ekstrom), their children Jackie (Tommy), Derek and Sharon Beatty (Sean), and his cherished grandchildren Brandon, Jake, Jeremy, Kayla, Emma and Finn. He is also survived by his siblings: twin brother Robert, Patricia Martini (John), Mary Howe (Tom), Nicholas (Annette) and Lorraine Rios (Nestor). Ed was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Gerard and beloved son Jerry. Ed was an extraordinary individual who had a long career in two different industries. He worked 19 years as a Cargo Manager for TWA. Then began a 25 year career for UL LLC as Plants & Facilities manager retiring in 2012. He had a reputation for always going above and beyond, having a great sense of humor and friends to many. Ed served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Navy from 1965-67 assigned in Point Mugu, CA. Edward G. Flieger will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His integrity, willingness to always help anyone who needed it and love for his family, affectionately known as "Geicko" will long be remembered.
