Obituary of Mary S. Lindsay

Mary Lindsay, 84, formerly of Huntington, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born in Queens, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Susan Hoey. She was predeceased by her husband George, and her companion John Mathews. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Martha Hoey, Mary’s five children, Lorraine Charette and her husband Mark, Patti Barry and her husband Kevin, Joseph Lindsay and his wife Susan, Steven Lindsay and his wife Jennifer, and Susan Lindsay. Her memory is also cherished by her grandchildren Scott, Cheryl, Michele, Mary, Sophia, and Brian and his partner Nicole, in addition to her great grandchildren Vance, Stella and Cecelia, her many cousins, extended family and friends. She was employed as an administrative assistant for the Grumman Aerospace Corporation at the time of her retirement. Mary loved to spend time with her family and was always looking for an opportunity to hit the dance floor, play cards, and travel with family and friends. She was a woman of strong faith, and will be greatly missed for her deep intelligence, quick wit, and compassionate spirit.
