Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce Roy Blomster passed away on August 9, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on August 4, 1932 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Roy was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from the NYPD. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Lucille Blomster who passed in May 2022; and his parents Elsa (nee Hagblom) and Victor Blomster.
He is survived by his daughters Catherine Smith (Donald) and Barbara Imperato (Jack), and his son Kenneth (Susan). He was a beloved grandfather “Papa” of 11; Meghan (Frank), Collin, Kirsten (Lou), Bryan, Zachary, Christopher, Matthew (Sara), Daniel, Kevin, Kyle and Shayna Rose and a great grandfather of Holly, Lucia and Serena.
Roy was a 1st generation American and was a good man with a very big heart. He was always available to his family whether being able to assist with house projects, holiday food prep, homework, historical information, offering words of advice, or having a tea party with his great granddaughters.
During the past several years, Dad/Papa enjoyed the search for yard sale treasures which he would generously share with his family. He recently did score the treasure of a doll house which provided the sought after breakthrough he was looking for with his great granddaughter Lucia.
Some of Papa’s words of wisdom:
· “Don’t fight against windmills.” (i.e. accept the things you cannot change)
· “Remember, whenever you walk into a room, make sure there is a way out.”
· “There are never any answers at the bottom of a glass.”
· “My C-PAP machine changed my life.”
· Regarding pierced ears: “Why would anyone want to put holes in a perfectly good baby?”
He is immensely loved and will be immensely missed.

We are heartbroken to announce that yesterday we lost our dear father/papa Roy Blomster at the age of 91. A veteran of the US Navy and the NYPD, the greatest thing that can be said about Papa was how much he cared for his family whether he showed it by wiring his children’s houses or having a tea party with his great granddaughters. He was immensely loved and will be immensely missed.
