Obituary

Loretta Golinski 1941 – 2023 Loretta Golinski was born in April 1941 at Morrisania Hospital in The Bronx, NY to an extraordinarily loving mother, Elizabeth Anne Reinhart, nee Tierney, and father, Charles Reinhart. She was the youngest of three siblings: Raymond (deceased) and Barbara Doherty (deceased). Loretta attended elementary school at St Pius X Parochial School in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx. She attended St Jean Baptiste, which is a Catholic High School located in Manhattan. After graduating from high school, Loretta worked as a dental hygienist for dentists at 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. During this time Loretta’s sister, Barbara, invited her on a blind date with a co-worker from the law firm of Lewis, McDonald and Varian, that is Paul Golinski, her future husband. They went on a double date to see the play on Broadway entitled Thoroughly Modern Millie. Paul proposed on Christmas Eve of 1961 and they married on July 28, 1962 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. After marriage, they moved into a small railroad flat in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY. While living in Greenpoint, Loretta gave birth to Christopher, Theresa, and Andrew. Once she became pregnant with Christopher, Loretta decided to leave work and become a fulltime homemaker. The family quickly outgrew their apartment, prompting them to move to North Massapequa, NY in 1969 where they proceeded to have two more children, Stephen and Elizabeth.

.

Loretta found joy raising her children and taking part in their activities. She was a Den Mother and Girl Scouts Leader. She also enjoyed staying active with activities such as playing tennis, bowling, gardening, and walking Fluffy, the family dog, throughout the neighborhood. She even tried skiing. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She made sure to make blankets for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her favorite drinks Coors Light, Guinness Stout, and Baileys Irish Cream, but rarely more than one a day. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Loretta died peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice in Rockville Centre, at 1:20 in the afternoon of Thursday, February 16th surrounded by her husband and five children, after days of visits from extended members of the family and close friends. Loretta is survived by her five children, Christopher (Darlene), Theresa, Andrew, Stephen (Juline), and Elizabeth (Richard); seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Khalid), Johnpaul (Heather), Gabriella, Andrew, Ella, Wynter, and Colton; and two great grandchildren, Euphrasia and Gideon. Loretta’s wake will be held on Monday, February 20th from 3 – 5 pm and 7 – 9 pm at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage, NY. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at 10:45 am at Maria Regina Church, 3945 Jerusalem Avenue, Seaford, NY. Burial will follow at Saint Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested in her memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, https://michaeljfox.org
