Obituary

William Richard Federer Jr., 56 years old, of West Islip, NY/Shirley, NY/East Islip, NY/Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on December 20, 2022. William was born on 5/13/1966 to William Richard Federer Sr. and Linda McKay Federer. After graduating from West Islip High School in 1984 he began his career in the HVAC industry. In time, he worked his way to purchasing Elm Air Conditioning Corp. with his partner, Scott Oest. In 1988, William married Catherine Schmidt who he lovingly referred to as “Momma”. They went on to share 34 years together and have two children, Brian John, age 29 years old, and Jessica Lyn, age 26 years old. Bill, known affectionately to his friends as “Big Sexy”, enjoyed Kettle One with a splash, cooking bacon on his outdoor griddle for Cathy, Brian and Jessica, “Solving the problems of the world” over a few beers with his best friend Charlie, spending time with and making traveling and entertainment plans with his “Partner” Jackie, traveling, working, listening to live music, summers spent on the water, “Ash Wednesday” at Americano, “Friday Night Date Night” with Cathy at Mannino’s of Oakdale, “Fat Fish Saturdays” and many other things. Bill was always ready and enjoyed a good time. Bill will forever be loved and missed by Cathy, Brian, Jessica, his family and friends, his bartenders and servers, all of whom he cherished and loved. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bill’s memory to The American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Make A Wish Foundation of Suffolk County. There will be a “Celebration Of Life Gathering” following the final service, where the family asks everyone to please being a photo to share that will be posted on a picture board, at Mannino’s in Oakdale. Information to follow.
