Obituary

THOMPSON, Maureen (McNamara) age 86, of West Islip, NY passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Maureen was a graduate of John Adams High School (South Ozone Park, NY) and a woman who amazed all by holding everything together throughout life with a deep sense of faith and joy. Maureen was an active member of the Rosary Christian Mothers of Our Lady of Lourdes, West Islip, and a strong woman of faith. Maureen worked as a CNA at Our Lady of Consolation for many years bringing joy and peace to the many patients she cared for daily. Maureen was a woman of many talents from fabulous seamstress, wonderful cook, loving mother, outrageous grandmother and gentle but firm great grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more in life than being at home with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Agnes McNamara, her loving wonderful husband, John F. Thompson, her sister Rose McNamara, and handsome brother James McNamara and her first born child, Mary, whom she met for the first time this week. She is survived by her children, Valerie and her husband, Andrew; John and his wife Kate; Ellen and her husband James; Jennifer and her husband, Keith, Stephanie and her husband, Mike. She is survived by her amazing grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Kaileigh (Ryan), Jessie, Liam, Keith, Jacquelyn, Dallas, Sophia, Grace Ann, John, Frank, and Christine and by her great grandchildren Taylor, Gavin, Callie, Samuel, Amelia, McKenna Jane, Giovanna and Ariana. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in West Islip. The family would like to thank all for the help and care we have received throughout this difficult time.
