Obituary

Gloria McNally passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022. She was borne in Brooklyn on September 9, 1931 to the late Michael and Mildred Struffolino. Gloria is preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth and brother Anthony. As a former resident of East Islip she raised her children with her husband of 60 years, Joseph, who passed in 2012 at the age of 82. She was the beloved mother of Brian and Tara, her cat Elvis, Aunt to Valerie and the adored grandmother of Gregory, Michelle, Allison, Mariana, Lance and Hailee and great grandmother to Sophia and Chloe. Gloria was a devoted Italian-American Catholic and raised her children at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Gloria was a long time member of St. Mary’s Parish in East Islip and was involved in a myriad of Parish activities ranging from being a Eucharistic Minister, running the Chinese Auction to volunteering at the Parish Thrift Store. Gloria had an eclectic work career and worked for St. Mary’s Parish office as well as Macy’s. In later life Gloria spent time in Florida but eventually returned to Long Island to be closer to friends and family where she resided with her daughter and family in Bayport. Gloria loved to travel and no matter wherever Gloria went, it always seemed to be that she either knew someone there and if not she made friends quickly. Another one of Gloria’s favorite things to do was cook Italian food for friends and family and there are a many of people who enjoyed her Sunday and Holiday dinners. Gloria always believed in giving back by volunteering and supported a number of charitable organizations most of which were animal related. While Gloria may no longer be with us she will always be in our hearts.
