Obituary

Preston Morris, 79 of West Islip, NY passed peacefully on November 17, 2021 with his loving family at his side. Preston was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and eventually moved with his family to Long Island in 1975. Preston retired in 2001 after more than 30 years in the financial industry. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Morris; his son, James Morris and his daughter Christine Petzold (Morris), 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. Preston met the love of his life, Linda Morris, in Brooklyn in 1962 when they were young and were blessed to have spent nearly 60 years together. He absolutely cherished Linda and every day they were able to spend together, including willing himself sure out of the hospital so that he could properly celebrate Linda’s birthday just a few days before his passing. Throughout their life together they raised two wonderful children who Preston adored. Everyone who knew Preston knew how unmatched his love was for his grandchildren. Whether it was a crack of dawn hockey game, dance recital, school show and tell, CYO basketball game , a graduation, birthday party or any of the countless other family events, Preston was there. There was nothing that he would not sacrifice for his family; including moving in with his grandson for 16 months to help with a family emergency. He found no greater joy than spending time with and cheering on his many grandchildren. He was truly able to foster a unique individual relationship with every one of them. That love and devotion was only matched for his two great grandchildren who knew him as GG Pa. He truly was a loving and extraordinary husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and brother-in-law. Preston was also extremely generous, not only with his family and friends but with anyone who found themselves temporarily down on their luck.

.

Preston truly was the embodiment of a “family man”. In addition to spending time with his family Preston enjoyed solving the daily jumbles, reading the paper, trading stocks , playing the daily horse races, joining his friends for their weekly card game, and playing pranks. Preston was always happy to pull off a good prank, primarily on his children and grandchildren. His kind heart and infectious smile will be missed but his spirit will live forever in his family. Preston’s Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church West Islip, NY 11795. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tristan’s Gift of Hope Foundation Inc. 12 Patricia Ct. Ridgewood, NJ 07450
