Obituary

Anne Marie O’Connor ,66 devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on Monday October 18, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with bile duct cancer. Ann Marie was born on September 20, 1955 in Two Harbors Minnesota and was predeceased by her parents Sebastian and Fannie Caliendo, as well as brothers Robert Johnson, James Johnson, Steven Johnson, Father in law Neil O’Connor and brother in law Leon DeMaille. Anne Marie grew up in Lindenhurst NY, where she graduated from Lindenhurst High School. She was employed at her families lumber yard and in 1985 married the love of her life, Dr. Mike O’Connor of Massapequa NY. The marriage was only the beginning of a lifetime of accomplishments for Anne Marie and Mike. Together they had one child, Michael, and in 1991 would move to Fairport NY as Mike took a transfer as a professor at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls NY. Anne Marie was a member of the Assumption of Our Lady parish in Fairport, where she taught religious education for several years. Anne Marie also became a licensed massage therapist and for many years operated a massage practice, when she was not doing the office and billing work in her husband’s chiropractic practice in Victor NY. Anne Marie continued her massage career at Head to Toe Salon in Fairport. While working at the salon Anne Marie became a laser technician and owned a laser hair removal business within the salon until her diagnosis with cancer required retirement so she could focus on the fight that so sadly would take her life.

.

One of Anne Marie’s greatest joys was her annual vegetable garden. The tomatoes, garlic and herbs, were the cornerstone of all her fabulously prepared Italian dishes: often enjoyed by family and friends. Anne Marie and Mike own a home in North Port Florida and she so enjoyed spending time there and visiting with all their friends at Lazy River. Her creativity in crafts and painting abound in her homes both in Fairport and Florida. Crafting was a hobby she tremendously enjoyed and many a friend and relative are recipients of her talented creations. Perhaps her greatest joy of the past five years are the countless hours she and Mike have spent with their Granddaughter Anja. Anne Marie enjoyed their swims in the pool, sleepovers at MiMI and PaPa’s and hours of being entertained with the love and enjoyment that a grandchild brings to her Grandparents. Anne Marie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dr. Michael Oconnor, her son Michael (Kristara Brown) O’Connor, granddaughter Anja O’Connor, Mother in law Lee O’Connor, sisters Theresa (James) DePasqual, Rose Marie DeMaille, Ponci (Joseph) Ingino. Also, brothers, Sebastian Caliendo and Bill Johnson as well as sisters in law Patricia O’Connor, Colleen (Thomas) Byrne and brother in law James (Kathleen) O’Connor and numerous nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews. Lastly, the countless people throughout her life who just simply called her friend. Calling Hours in Fairport will be held on Friday the 22nd of October from 5-7pm at the Richard H Keenan funeral Home located at 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd (Rt31) in Fairport. Calling Hours will also be held in West Islip NY at the Frederick J Chapey and Sons funeral home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. West Islip, NY on Sunday the 24th of October from 4-7pm.
