Loughlin, Judge Daniel J., Retired Supreme Court Judge, of Babylon, LI, on August 20, 2021. Beloved husband of Gloria Loughlin. Devoted father of Claire (Raymond) Merz and Laure (Leo) Loughlin-Klopsis. Cherished grandfather of Luke Merz, Hallie Merz and Arielle Klopsis. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday 11:15 AM at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Babylon, LI. Interment to follow at Babylon Rural Cemetery, Babylon, LI. The Honorable Daniel J. Loughlin

The Hon. Daniel J. Loughlin (Ret.) was a justice of the Suffolk County Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He joined the Supreme Court in 1999. Loughlin retired in 2007. His judicial career also included serving as a judge for the Suffolk County District Court from 1990 to 1999. Loughlin received an LL.B. from New York University School of Law. He also holds an LL.M. from Brooklyn Law School. Prior to his judgeship, Loughlin served as a village attorney for the Village of Babylon, an attorney for the Babylon Fire Department, and a named partner at Fishel, Bowers & Loughlin. After retiring from the bench, Loughlin served as a judicial hearing officer for the Suffolk County Supreme Court. He is registered as a Republican.
