MOONEY- Captain Edwin J., Jr., of West Islip, LI, on December 26, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann “Pat.” Devoted father of Michael Mooney, Timothy and his wife Jane Mooney, and Casey and her husband Raymond Cassino. Cherished grandfather of Brendan and his wife Stacey, Kelley, Morgan, Brittany, Michele Malaxos and her husband Nick, James Cassino and his wife Grace, Michael, Christopher, and the late Brian Mooney. Dear brother of Robert Mooney, Joan Schoeffel and predeceased by sisters, Edna, Marie and Sue. Proud Veteran of the United States Army. Born in Teaneck, NJ; came to Bay Shore in 1948 and started working at the Fire Island Ferries the same year. Ed purchased Fire Island Ferries in 1972 and has grown the business to what it is today. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 mile west of S.S. Pkwy., exit 45W). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Msgr. Purick Hall, Bay Shore, LI on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Bay Shore, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O.
