Dear Kerry and Colleen,
We tried to view the funeral but were not successful. Aunt Maggie and I were back and forth on the phone trying to figure it all out. Mary was calling Aunt Maggie as well. I called the church but no answer. I was able to get through to Chapey's and the director shared with me that there was a technical issue which prevented the live stream. I let Aunt Maggie know and she called Mary to fill her in. While we were saddened to not be able to view the funeral, we found comfort in talking with one another (and I think they felt a bit of relief that it wasn't something wrong that they were doing on the computer).
We are so sorry the live stream wasn't able to happen. We wanted to be there in any way that we could. Please know that we were with you in spirit and are sorry that the technical difficulty prevented us from attending virtually. We are sure the service was filled with love and remembrance for Mary Jane. We were thinking of you all and spent our time reflecting on fond memories. When all is well with the world again, we will be there to give you hugs in person. Until then, peace be with you.
Love,
Diane and family

Dear Kerry & Colleen,
So very sorry to hear of you mom's passing. Aunt Maggie has been keeping me updated over the past two weeks (as well as over the years).
You may not have known it but your mom was such a role model for me. My grandmother used to go on and on about Mary Jane- how proud she was of her and how Mary Jane had her Master's Degree. I think the first time I ever heard about it I was so young, I didn't even know what it was but I knew I was going to get a Master's Degree one day since it was such an admirable thing. As time passed and life carried on, I finished my undergraduate degree and set my sights on a Master's Degree, just like Mary Jane. Sadly, I received my acceptance to Georgia State University's Master of Teaching English as a Second Language program just after nanny passed away. I thought of her and your mom when I walked across the stage to receive my diploma. I was the first person in my family to earn a college degree and with the inspiration of your mom I took it a step further and pursued my Master's.
I'm so glad that Aunt Maggie and I were able to enjoy a visit with her (& Kerry) a few years ago. I'll forever remember her laugh and smile. I'm thinking of you all and sending love and hugs.
Love,
Diane

I wish to express our deepest condolences to Mary Jane's family. Mary Jane was a mentor, colleague in teaching, and loyal friend. She brought joy to every occasion with her lighthearted, upbeat, positive personality and beautiful "lilting Irish laughter". I will miss our lively conversations and luncheons together until we meet again. I will miss the riddles too! We will miss you, Mary Jane, so much! Heaven has another angel and I know that she will always be watching over her family and friends. We send our love and prayers to the family. May God strengthen you during this difficult time.

My mom loved when we all cruised together for her birthday. So glad we were able to create so many special memories with her.
