Obituary
Kenneth Williams, age 66, passed away in his home on Long Island on Thursday November 5, 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 20th 1954 to Winnifred Anna Cormier and Walter Francis Williams, along with loving brother Wally (Lorna) and sisters Irene (Doug), Gloria (Mike), Winnie (Woody), and Janet (Joe). They love their youngest sibling and carry him in their minds and hearts. Even though his nickname in school was “Grumpy”, he enjoyed sleeping in the sand dunes of Fire Island to go surfing early in the morning.
Kenneth was proud to be an Army RA SP5 starting 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1977 with a National Defense Service Medal. He worked at the Veterans Hospital in Northport, NY before retiring in 2018.
Kenny was welcomed into the Kopp family by Richard and Elaine Kopp, marrying their oldest daughter Debra on May 9th, 1981 and gaining two sister-in-laws, Lisa (Ken) and Barbara (Joe). He enjoyed trips with his cousins Kathleen and Lon, their trip to Puerto Rico being most memorable. Kenny is remembered by his many nieces and nephews for trips to the movie theater when they were young with their uncle. Kenny loved and adored his three children Richard (Corin), Elaine (Mike) and Rachel (Jared) and his three grandchildren Aeryn, Ada and Issac. Kenneth gave his heart to his family, and worked incredibly hard to give them a safe and happy life. He is gone too soon and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 111 Nassau Ave in Islip, NY on Saturday November 14th at 10am. Please call church (631) 277-1555 to confirm attendance. A Zoom link will be available.
Also, a remembrance service will be held at Jones Beach Field 5 (to the right) on Sunday November 15th at Noon.
Please wear masks and practice social distancing at both services. Flowers can be sent to 263 Keswick Drive, East Islip, NY 11730.

It still doesn’t seem real to me that my brother Kenny isn’t at home puttering around his house and garden. Kenny is the youngest in our family and he, my sister Irene and I were close in age and would always spend our time together growing up. There are so many adventures to recall. All summer we would make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hop on our bikes and ride to West Sayville beach and spend the day in the bay. I am talking 9, 8 and 7 years olds. Today we don’t let a 13 year old out of your sight! Kenny was always the one we got to do things for us. He was like that commercial “Mikey will do it”. He was always playing tricks on our older siblings. Kenny would get in bed with a big spoon full of peanut butter, Kenny slept in the top bunk and every morning would jump down onto the bed Irene and I were sleeping in. There was one day when he was paid from his lifeguard job, he threw his paycheck on the dashboard of his car. Of course the windows were open and out flew the paycheck! He picked me up and we spent over an hour walking up and down Veterans Hwy looking for that paycheck never to be found. Ken grew up after he met his wonderful wife and had his family. Still always cracking jokes and making me laugh. He was so proud of Richard and his 2 girls. He would and did everything he could for them to show how much he loved them. He was so proud talking about all their accomplishments. The garden he and Debra grew together in the backyard is so beautiful with all the different flowers. Kenny did so much for our aging mother before she passed away. Kenny I love you and know how hard it is going to be not being able to text back and forth with you giving each other a hard time. Peace brother and sorry you are the only one that has to deal with Mother now!

So sorry to hear of this loss. I’m thinking of you all at this time. My memory of Ken is that he was always a soft, easy going person with a fantastic laugh. I’m happy that my parents have spent so many fun times together with him and Debra. I will always think of him when I eat Doritos. Rest In Peace, you will be greatly missed by many❤️

Mrs. Williams and family, I am so sorry to hear of Kenny’s passing. I was his Nurse Manager on Unit 34 for 5 years and he was simply the best nurse. His dedication to our Veterans and his support of me as his leader will always be remembered by me. His family was always front and center and everything he did was for the future of his children.
Kenny was simply the best !
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
