Obituary

Frank DellaPace, 86, died peacefully on August 31,2020. Survived by his Loving wife Rhoda DellaPace. Son of the late Giuseppe and Victoria DellaPace. Papa D, Dad, Mr. D were some of the names to reference this special man who knew the meaning of family. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. By the age of 21 he was building his own house along with his father. He learned the arduous trade of bricklaying from his father Giuseppe and the art of eating delicious Italian food from his mother Victoria. He then went to work for Jerry Rosen for many years where he would become a foreman. Many of the buildings in Manhattan reflect his hard work and sweat. Whether working on the Waldorf Astoria or a neighborhood stoop, he worked with integrity and honor. Some of his work included the CBS studios as well as some of the first 3 family attached houses in Brooklyn. A person’s hands tell a story and Frank’s was one of countless hours of hard work so his children could have a Catholic education. He volunteered at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Church and contributed to crafting their altar. He was also a basketball coach at SMGH where he had the privilege of coaching his sons. Papa D had the ability to make everyone feel special. He would attend every graduation, wedding, birthday or hospital stay and he would be there dressed to the nines. However, his go to clothes were a good pair of sweatpants. If you needed Dad, he was always there for you. His jokes and advice would keep the grandchildren’s eyes and ears wide opened and wanting to be near him. And they never left without a $20 bill. His love and practical, wise words of advice will be missed immensely. Frank is predeceased by his brothers: Ernesto,Carmine,Edward,Ernie, sister: Pasquelina, nieces: Carmille, Patti-Ann nephew: Edward, He is survived by his children through Jeanne, former spouse: Frank & Patti DellaPace, James & Khris DellaPace, Carolyn & Richard Leprine, Timothy & Susan DellaPace.
