McCormack, Carol Lee (Christensen) – Carol, 87, of Bay Shore, NY passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020. Carol was born to Viola Christensen (Conway) and Christian Christensen in Far Rockaway, NY on November 22, 1932. She attended Hunter College graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Carol married the love of her life, (Milton) Kenneth McCormack in April 20, 1957. Sadly, Ken predeceased her in death on October 9, 1970. Carol was a devoted mother to Kim Cotler (Stuart) of South Windsor, CT and Gwen Fitzgerald (Douglas) of Cohasset, MA and beloved grandmother to Kenneth Cotler and Megan, Jackson and Connor Fitzgerald. Carol was a dedicated Kindergarten teacher beginning her career in the early 1960’s in Farmingdale Public Schools. After nearly 35 years, she ended her career when she retired in 1994 after working in the Bay Shore Public School System for 26 years. After retirement Carol traveled to many countries around the world and was active in local social clubs. An avid life-long reader, Carol was never found without a book in hand. Carol was a woman of very strong faith and was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bay Shore for many, many years. May she rest in peace with the Lord. Due to current health concerns, a celebration of Carol’s life will be held later this year.
