Zito, Cmdr. Frederick A., Ph.D., USN (Ret.)., of Babylon, Long Island, on August 25, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Marie Zito. Loving father of Barbara (Capt. Michael) Schnepp, Richard (Susan) Zito, M.D, and the late Joanne (Neil) Mautone, Retired P.O. Patricia (Retired Chief Robert) Burke, and Christine (Joseph) Buehler and the late Joanne (Neil) Mautone. Cherished grandfather of Jessica Schnepp, Jennafer (P.O. Anthony ) Spedaleri, Jordan Schnepp, Kristin Mautone, SSgt. Jared Schnepp, Kristopher Zito, Jacqueline Schnepp, Jeanne Marie Schnepp, Catherine Buehler, Maria Buehler, Lucy Buehler, and Annaliese Buehler. Dear great-grandfather of Anjelena Spedaleri, Anthony Spedaleri, and Alexsandra Spedaleri. Proud step-grandfather of Robert (Bridget) Burke, Cathrine Burke, Veronica (John) Cutajar and the late Caryn Burke. Adored brother of Richard (Vivian) Zito. Beloved brother-in-law of Gwen Zito and Margaret “Peggy” Haran. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Reposing at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Causeway). Requiem Mass on Monday AM, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Farmingville, LI. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, LI. Visiting Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM.
