Obituary of William R. Kelly

KELLY – William R. (Bill), 88, of Bethpage, NY on November 6, 2018. Loving husband of 64 years to the late Jean Kelly. Beloved father of William, Kenneth, Brian, Dennis, Jane, and Patricia. Devoted father-in-law to Sandra, JoAnn, MaryJean, Katie, Denise, Carol, Michael, Scott, and James. Cherished grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of 11 and another to be born in 2019. Bill was an honorable, kind, and devoted man whose life was blessed with a loving family and dear friends.

Bill was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he met the love of his life, Jean. Bill and Jean moved to Long Island in 1957 and raised their six children in Valley Stream and Bethpage. Bill and Jean were fortunate to retire at an early age and enjoy winters in Florida and travel the world together. The love between them shows no boundaries and will live on forever.

Family, golf, and being a die-hard Mets and Jets fan were Bill’s passion and delight. He especially found joy and love in his grandchildren: Christine, Billy, Kenny, Timmy, Diane, Brian, Erin, Sean, Michael, Ronnie, Dennis, Michael, Kelly, Jenna, Alexandra, Gregory, and Grant, and his great-grandchildren Jessica, MaKayla, Emma, William, Madison, Christopher, Mason, Grace, Brian, Gavin, and Wyatt .

Bill was an executive at Manufacturers Hanover for 42 years and a 25 year honorary Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He cherished his faith and found peace in God. He is with his beautiful wife now, but will be dearly missed by all.

Reposing at the Fredrick J Chapey and Sons Bethpage Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage, NY (1 mile north of Southern State Parkway, Exit 29). Visiting Friday, November 9 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. A celebration of Liturgy Christian burial at St James RC Church, Seaford, Saturday, November 10 at 9:15 am. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, LI.
