Obituary of Theresa Peretore Casella

Theresa Peretore Casella passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Theresa (Terry) was born February 13, 1937 in Queens, NY, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Torcasso. Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband of 29 years, S. Robert Peretore. She was also predeceased by her 2nd husband of 19 years, Anthony Casella. Theresa was the first in her family to receive her high school diploma. She lived much of her adult life in Deer Park, New York where she raised her four children. She worked many jobs and ran several small businesses, often at the same time, including working as a secretary at the Deer Park High School and for State Assemblyman John Cochrane, and handling all business aspects of the Deer Park Stationery and Peretore Photography. She was also very active in the Sons of Italy for decades, including serving as President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Columbus Lodge in Massapequa. Theresa never was one to sit still and worked until she was 80 years old, only retiring from her position as a secretary in the Hicksville Schools in June, 2017. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and community member. According to her children, she was the best mother in the world, hands down. She is survived by her children and spouses: Salvatore, Jr (Robin) Peretore of Binghamton, NY, JoAnn (Stephen) Sheridan of Bethpage, NY, Frank (Janis) Peretore of Green, NJ, Theresa (Brian) Westervelt of Fredon, NJ; 12 loving grandchildren and their spouses: Melinda (Samuel) Spooner, Salvatore III (Jaclyn) Peretore, Robert (Tessa) Peretore, Mark (Katie) Peretore, Colleen (Kevin) Barbera, Teri-Ann (Brian) Eyester, Lauren (Vincent) Bianco, Danielle Peretore, Samantha Peretore, Casondra Peretore, Brian Westervelt, Andrew Westervelt; 16 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Natalie, Ethan, Salvatore IV, Mia, Vincenzo, Francesca, Samara, Grace, Isabella, Bradley, Colton, Taylor, Jake, Lucy Theresa, Colin; 5 sisters, Marie (Joseph) Stabile, Lucy (Kenneth) Moscato, Gloria Edwards, Frances Vorolieff, Joyce (Sylvester) Marek. Funeral services and Mass for Theresa Peretore Casella, 81, a resident of Massapequa will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at St. Martin of Tours Church, 40 Seaman Avenue, Bethpage, NY. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. The family will greet friends and family from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage, NY.
