Obituary of Robert Thomas Irvine

 

Irvine, Robert T., Bob has gone home to be with his beloved wife Dot ( Dorothy) on March 20, 2018 at 91 years young. Born the oldest of 5 children to Louva (Goodrich) and Robert Irvine in Brooklyn, NY March 12, 1927. Bob was a longtime resident of West Islip. A valued member and ex-chief of the West Islip Fire Dept. Vanguard Company serving his community for more than 60 years. He is a retired employee of Grumman Bethpage and his job included wing production for the F14 Tomcat. He proudly served his country as an Ensign in the United States Navy at the end of WWII. He leaves behind his son Robert Scott, his wife Lisa, his grandchildren Heather and Cody and his wife Jocelyn all of Virginia as well as many extended family members and friends who loved him so much. Please join us to celebrate his life at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy., West Islip on Monday & Tuesday from 2-4:30pm & 7-9:30pm. West Islip Fire Department Firematic Service Tuesday 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday 12;30 PM at the Funeral Home.  Burial to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The members of the West Islip Fire Department were Bob’s true family. Words cannot express the gratitude our family has for the amazing men and women who cared and watched out for him every day. Thank you hardly seems adequate.
