Obituary of Anna B. Loverso

Anna Loverso from Long Island, NY passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Heritage Nursing home in Evansville, Indiana.  She was born July 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Anthony and Elizabeth Chayka.

Anna and her husband, Pete met on a baseball field.  Pete was one of the baseball players who were helping to convert the women softball players to baseball in order to field a team for the women’s professional baseball league.  It was love at first site and they later married on October 16, 1949.  She traveled with her teammates throughout the Midwest and even played a game or two at Bosse field.  She was a diehard Brooklyn Dodger fan until they moved from NY.  She then became a forever-devoted Yankee fan.   She was a wonderful cook, voracious reader, a devoted wife, a great lover of music and the Arts, a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved to play card games with her family and friends.  She and her husband Peter raised 6 children.

Anna is survived by her four sons, Phil (Adele) of Charlotte, NC, Peter (Pam) Myrtle Beach, SC, Frank (Michele) Wilmington, NC, Anthony (Vic) Hicksville, NY, and her two daughters, Maria Buttermore (Dr. Jim) South Sioux City, NE, and Dr. Liz Loverso of Evansville, IN. Grandchildren Jeffery, Jennifer, Matthew, Jonathan, Jaci, Peter Michael, Steven, Jordan, Joseph, Kristen, and great grand-daughter Elaine.
