Obituary of Marie Antoinette Oliva

Oliva, Marie Antoinette, 76, of West Bay Shore, LI, on June 23, 2017. Beloved wife of Anthony G. Oliva. Devoted mother Cami and Angela. Cherished Grandma of William, Victoria and Lauren. Dear sister of Phyllis. Marie was born in Queens and was a longtime resident of Babylon, West Islip and West Bay Shore. She graduated from Babylon High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from City College and a Master’s Degree from CW Post. Known and loved as a teacher, Marie travelled with her students to the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Skills Olympics and various hair styling competitions throughout Nassau, Suffolk, Upstate New York and Kentucky. Marie was a New York State Board Examiner and an Examiner for City College Cosmetology Teacher Certification. She was also a New York State Educational Department Curriculum Resource Person for Sewhanaka High School District and President of the Long Island Cosmetology Teachers Guild. Dedicated to her profession she was a Platinum Member of the National Cosmetology Association, many other professional organizations, and in 1992 she was the coordinator for the Advanced Cosmetology Program at BOCES II. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, West Islip, LI. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, LI. Visiting Sunday 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM.
