Obituary

DOMINICK ROCCO SHACCO 8/16/36 – 3/6/24 Dominick Rocco Shacco passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early hours on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 after succumbing to end stage dementia. He was 87 years old and lived in Seaford N.Y. with his wife, Anne Shacco (nee Lisiecki), of 62 years. Dominick was predeceased by his three siblings - sister Florence and Sarah; brother Thomas; and honorary brother Stephen Lisiecki (brother-in-law). He was a devoted family man and solid provider who was predeceased by his sons Dominick and John. He is survived by his daughters, Viola Murphy (spouse Thomas), Jeannette, and Carol Lavelle (spouse William); His 15 grandchildren - TJ, Danny, Christopher, Charice, Alicia, Carol-Anne, Erik, Victoria, Melissa, Gina, AnnMarie, Kerry, Carla, Vincent, and Breanna plus his 19 great-grandchildren. Dominick worked various jobs until landing at the Hippodrome building in Manhattan as an Operating Engineer for over 40 years and simultaneously as the Fire Safety Director for over 16 years which he thoroughly enjoyed. Dominick was a master at math and could calculate large sums mentally. A trait he did not pass on to his family. His advice was on point and direct albeit he believed he was right and you were wrong. He was charming and had a wicked sense of humor that kept everyone in his orbit on their toes. Dominick was a proud Italian American who for fun used to shoot cannons at neighbors in his spare time.
