Obituary of Vincent Panico

Panico - Vincent, a resident of Islip, NY passed away after a short but valiant battle with cancer surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was born October 30, 1940 to Anthony and Anna Panico of Carnasie, Brooklyn, NY. He had four sisters – Marie Valenti, Anne Brown (Phil), Linda Kaylor and the late Nina Campagnola. Vincent spent his youth on Avenue L and the streets of Canarsie and Coney Island. He met Theresa Latanza shortly after returning from the service at Fort Bliss, TX. Together they made an amazing life and four devoted children who adore them; Anthony (Zena), Vera (Bruce), Desiree (Dennis) and Vincent (India). He was a beloved grandfather to Anthony, Maria, Gia, Jake, Bruce and Michael. He is also survived by his loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Sal & Sandra Cangialosi, Antoinette Vilardi, Alex & Brenda Latanza and the many nieces and nephews he loved so much. He was “Uncle Vin” to all. His friends were innumerable. He taught his children that the most important thing in life was family and his life was a testament to that notion. Vinny was in the construction industry for nearly 50 years running Twin County Home Improvement and EZ Flo Gutter Systems. He worked up until the day of his death. He loved the water, spending time with his family and gambling. OTB and The New York State Lottery will surely miss his daily contributions. He was a joyous man who celebrated life until his last breath. This world was a better place because he was here. He will be forever missed. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 Mile West of the S.S. Parkway, Exit 45W). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday 9:45 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, East Islip, LI. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, LI. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests you buy yourself a scratch-off in Vincent’s loving memory. Visiting Saturday and Sunday 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM and 7:00PM until 9:30PM.
