Obituary of Reverend Peter J. McCrann, S.M.M.

Rev. Peter J. McCrann, S.M.M. died January 16, 2017 at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood. Son of the late Gladys and Peter McCrann, he was born in Freeport and the oldest of six children. Fr. McCrann was 84 years old and a professed member of the Montfort Missionaries 63 years and 58 years a priest. He was known and respected as Department Chaplain of the Bay Shore Fire Department, Chaplain of the Bishop McGann Council of the Knights of Columbus, and retired Chaplain at Southside Hospital. Predeceased by his parents and his brother, John. Fr. McCrann is survived by his siblings, Mary McCrann of South Setauket; Catherine and her husband Jim Kelly of Coronado, CA; James and his wife Maria, of Hicksville; his sister-in-law Christine McCrann of MA; and Margaret Carroll of San Diego, his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Wake will be at the Bay Shore Firehouse, 195 5th Ave, Bay Shore, NY on Monday, January 23rd, from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 9 Clinton Ave. Bay Shore, NY. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Bay Shore. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Montfort Missionaries, 26 South Saxon Ave. Bay Shore, NY 11706. Arrangements entrusted to The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home.
