Obituary of Robert George Hancock

Hancock, Robert George, of Brightwaters, LI, on August 1, 2016. Beloved husband of 56 years to Priscilla (nee Tedesco) Hancock. Loving father of Gregory (Harlene Schwartz), Kimberly (Owen Mudge) and Glenn. Much loved brother of Dr. William, Marilyn LaComb and Bruce. Bob was an Administrator and Guidance Counselor in Islip Middle School. He was a charter member, Past President and Trustee of the Bay Shore Historical Society, recipient of the Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award in 2010. He was also District Chairman of the Suffolk County Penataquit District Boy Scouts of America, a 2nd generation Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Silver Beaver National Award. Bob was Co-chairman of Bay Shore High School's First Invitational Marching Band Competition, served as Past President and charter member of Suffolk County Association of Adult Educators and served as Director of the Adult Education Program for Islip Public Schools. He will be reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). A Prayer Service will be held Thursday 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Cremation to follow. Visiting Thursday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to Bay Shore Historical Society, 22 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
