Obituary of Sheley Lillie Thompson

Sheley Lillie Thompson was born on May 12, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. It was evident at a young age that she had and exceptional mind. She excelled in all ventures including academics. She was the valedictorian of her sixth grade class. After graduating high school, Sheley attended Brooklyn College, then went on to attend The Katharine Gibbs School where became a legal secretary. She secured a job in Manhattan at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett where she worked for numerous years.

Sheley was gifted with creativity and was very passionate about both singing and writing.  She would always meet up with friends and spend hours just singing with each note sounding more melodious than the other. Her voice was soothing and she found solace when she sang. When she picked up a pen it transporter her to a place that put her in alignment with all things in the universe.  In 2002, she wrote, illustrated, and published a book of poetry entitled Windows In My Mind under the pen name Epiphanie Ashanta Moore. A work of art created from pure emotion, life experiences and love.

She was such a free and uninhibited spirit. She loved to travel and would send postcards from various destinations.  She had an affinity for Aruba and met some of her closest friends in Germany.

She enlisted in the United States Airforce reserves in 2003, where she proudly served her country.

Described by Sheley as her gift form the heavens, she has a son Joshua whom she loved and revered.

On January 17, 2018, Sheley left us and is now with our Father in heaven. She was known for her intelligence, strong will and spirituality. Her influence upon us will continue throughout our days and her spirit will be with us throughout our lives. If you see a bird soaring, watch how it sails freely through the skies and think of her infectious laugh and beautiful smile. She wouldn’t want it any other way.

Sheley is survived by her son Joshua, mother Virginia, sister Tisha, aunts, cousins and members of the Scott family who celebrate her life.
