Obituary of Jeffrey Salvo

Jeffrey Salvo, of West Babylon, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018.   He was 46 years old.  Jeffrey was born on September 12, 1971 to Anthony C. and the late Leonora Salvo (née Gibaldi) of Malverne, NY.

In addition to his father, Jeffrey is survived by his stepmother Lynn Salvo, his brother Michael Salvo (Kristen), step-siblings Ashley Isaacs Ganz (Steven), Jonathan R. Isaacs (Spencer) and Jeffrey D. Isaacs (Yana), nephew Jacob Salvo,  niece Autumn Salvo, step-nephews Rory and Schuyler Ganz and Brooks Isaacs, and other loving relatives and good friends.

Jeffrey was a graduate of The Vincent Smith School in Port Washington.  He was later a member and active participant in YAI (Young Adults Institute) for almost twenty years, prior to joining the CDD (Center for Developmental Disabilities) residential program.

Jeffrey enjoyed watching football, particularly his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.  He had a great fondness for music and theater, and participated with the FREE (Family Residential and Essential Enterprises) Players-acting group in several productions including acting roles in Damn Yankees, and a starring role in Guys and Dolls.

Following this, Jeffrey was a member of the FREE Players Drum Corps which performed at Disney World, and made history as the first all handicapped group to perform in the world class finals in Canton, Ohio and to march in the Manhattan Columbus Day Parade.

Jeffrey was generous in spirit.  His wit and personality were infectious, and he made acquaintances easily. He was a model of persistence and succeeded in reaching his dream to live independently. Jeffrey will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jeffrey’s life at Fredrick J. Chapey and Sons Bethpage Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road. Visitation Monday 7:00PM until 9:30PM and Tuesday 11:00AM until 12:30PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 12:30PM. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, LI. In lieu of flowers, Jeffrey’s loving family suggests donation be made in his memory to the Center for Developmental Disabilities, 72 South Woods Road, Woodbury, New York 11797.
