John Thomas Peters April 2, 1932 – July 16, 2024 John Thomas Peters, beloved Husband, Father, Uncle, and Friend, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on April 2, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Ann Peters. John Peters grew up with one brother and two sisters in Brooklyn, NY. John began working at a very young age to help support his family. Throughout his life, he was an automotive and truck mechanic and, towards the end of his career, he worked for the Syosset School District. He could fix anything. He married Patricia Swisher and had four beautiful children. John was a jovial man who loved cowboy movies, the New York Giants, Entenmann’s snacks, and, of course, spending time with his family. To his four grandchildren, he was known as “Poppy.” In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Swisher Peters; two children, Michael Peters and Arleen Peters Elder; and his three siblings, William Peters, Mary Peters McNeil, and Eileen Peters Nielsen. John is survived by his two children Maureen Peters and John Terrence Peters; the widow and widower of his late children, Sheila Peters and David Elder; his four grandchildren Kelly Elder, Ryan Elder, Nicholas Peters, and Christopher Peters; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Services are being provided by Chapey and Sons Funeral Home located at 200 East Main Street, East Islip, NY. Viewing will be held on Friday July 19th from 3-5PM and 7-9PM.
