Obituary

Gribbin - William R. “Bill,” 65, of Bohemia, LI, passed away on March 19, 2023. We lost a special soul whose warmth, compassion, and generosity touched so many lives. His captivating personality, sweet smile and infectious laughter filled any room he entered and his spirit served as a lamp amidst the darkness. Bill was a dedicated husband and father, always there to help make his family's wishes come true and passionately cheered them on. He recognized your life achievements and comforted you during challenges. His family is comforted knowing that Billy is now embraced by his beloved son, Ryan, and with his parents Joan and William Gribbin. He is survived by his loving wife Catherine Gribbin, daughter Colleen Bloom (Mark) and son Connor (Catherine). Bill’s family also includes his sister Kathleen Torretta (Greg) and their daughters, brother Bob and five grandchildren - Ryan, Madelyn, Grace, namesake William, and Caleb. He was cherished by Cathy’s siblings and his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Billy also holds a special place in his heart for his mother-in-law, Sheila Lawn. We know that the memory of Billy singing Galway Bay will forever be in our hearts and bring a smile to all as we think fondly of our time together with him. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street. For more information visit www.chapeyfamily.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s loving memory to the Connetquot High School Wrestling Team.
