GREECE, N.Y. – Rosemarie O’Connell, formerly of Bay Shore, passed away at home on February 20, 2023. She was 84. The daughter of Helen Silvestro and Emil Grasmuck, Rosemarie was born on Sept. 4, 1938 in Manhattan, joining brothers Robert and Richard and sister Dorothy. In 1959 she married David. F. O’Connell, and together they built a life that would include five children – four boys and a girl – in Bay Shore. Later, that life would include 10 grandchildren as well. Family and faith were Rosemarie’s greatest comforts in life. Rosemarie was predeceased by her parents and siblings, as well as husband David in 2012. She is survived by son Michael, and his wife Marie, of Marlboro, N.J.; son David and wife Laura Dolce, of Kennebunk, ME; son Steven of Nazareth, PA.; daughter Kathleen and her husband, Gary Miner, of Greece, N.Y.; and son John and wife Val, of Holtsville, N.Y. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Christopher O’Connell, Nicholas O’Connell, Emily O’Connell, Michael O’Connell, Blake O’Connell, Jake O’Connell, Sarah O’Connell, Nathan Miner, Ryan Miner and Maura O’Connell. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy, West Islip, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 at St. Patrick's Church, Bay Shore. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, N.Y. Arrangements are in the care of Bartolomeo and Perotto Funeral Home in Rochester, N.Y., and Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in West Islip. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Covenant House, or Boys Town.
