Obituary

HANLEY, James J., of East Islip, LI, retired Battalion Chief of FDNY, succumbed to his 9/11 related illness on February 4, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Antoinette C. Hanley. Devoted father of Thomas (Bonnie) Hanley, James Hanley, Patricia (Keith) Cooney, John (Patricia Mary) Hanley, Edward (Maureen) Hanley, and Patrick (Gabriella) Hanley. Cherished grandfather of Christine, Michelle (Chris), James, Bernadette, Kathleen, Alexis, Patrick, Daniel, Brian (Dana), Bridget, Kayla, Patricia, John, Aileen, Shannon, and Thomas. Treasured great grandfather of Cayson and Makennah. Dear brother of the late Thomas Hanley. James was devoted to his community and was a proud member of FDNY Battalion 7, Emerald Society, Holy Name Society, Division 7 Ancient Order of Hibernians of East Islip and Knights of Columbus Council of Brentwood. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 Mile West of the S.S. Parkway, Exit 45W). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Thursday, February 9, 2023 11:00 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, East Islip, LI. Burial to follow at Queen of All Saints Cemetery, Central Islip, LI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James’ loving memory to Tunnel To Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or The New York Burn Center Foundation 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475. Visitation Tuesday, February 7th 2023 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
