Obituary

On the morning of May 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family Allen D. Parrish, Sr., was called home to be with the Lord. Allen was born September 5, 1949, in East Meadow, New York, to Minnie Parrish Stanley. He was one of 12 children. Allen attended school in the Roosevelt School District. Allen loved sports and was very athletic throughout high school. He was on both the varsity football and wrestling teams. His intellectual interests included computers and chess, activities in which he participated most of his life. As an adult, he was on several chess teams and competed in chess tournaments throughout the United States. Allen was also an engaging and inquisitive problem solver, always prepared for life's challenges. He received a full scholarship to Penn State University after graduating high school. After college, he trained in aeronautics and became an aircraft traffic controller. His professional endeavors included a career as a computer analyst and troubleshooter. He was a valued employee and appreciated by his company; the program "ALLEN D. PARRISH" was named in his honor. Allen was the loving husband to the late Maime Bell and commented father to five lovable sons. Left to cherish his fond memories are his mother-in-law, Janice, sisters Geneva Downer, Linda Matthews, Patricia Stanley, Francis Deas, and Inez (John) Wrightson, Manon Hodge. Brothers Melvin, Mark, and Ruppert Stanley, Charles (Mary) Bell, Gene (Beth) Rogers, Jason (Jackie) Byrd, the Mackey Family, the Rhodes family, and the Coleman family, his beloved foster and adopted family. Preceding him in death are his sisters Cynthia Parrish, Brenda Lee Stanley, Maybelle Hodge, and brothers Bobby Deas and Floyd Parrish. All who knew him will miss his warm and engaging personality. Although Allen is no longer with us, he will forever live in our hearts. Rest in peace Allen, until we meet again.
