Obituary

TOBIN - Mary Jane, of Bay Shore, LI, on March 13, 2022. Mary Jane was born in Ridgewood, Queens to Theodore and Anna Bohner. The only daughter among five children, she attended St. Margaret’s Elementary School in Middle Village, Queens and Our Lady of Wisdom High School in Ozone Park. She went on to attend St. Catherine’s Nursing School completing her studies in 1953 and worked as a Registered Nurse. She lived in Merrick for 45 years and was active in the Cure of Ars parish before moving to Bay Shore and St. Patrick’s parish in 2005. She ran for NYS Governor in 1978 and received over 200,000 votes. Her love of the beach was matched by her strong Catholic faith and dedication to her Church which remained with her to the very end of her life. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, James F. Tobin, Sr.; and is the devoted mother of James (Diana) Tobin, Jr., Donna Tobin, and Robert (Nelly) Tobin. Cherished grandmother of five (Victoria, Christina, Kayleigh, Kyle, Liam); and great-grandmother of three (Zackery, James, Brianna). Dear sister of Robert Bohner. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Thursday, 9:45 AM at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Bay Shore, LI. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Bay Shore, LI. Visiting Wednesday, 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
