Obituary

Catherine J. Ciaravino of Wethersfield Connecticut passed away on February 18, 2022 exactly 39 years to the day after her mother died. She was one week shy of her 94th birthday. She was born in Brooklyn NY and later moved to Islip Terrace in 1964 where she resided for the next 46 years. She became a member of St. Peter the Apostle RC Church circa 1965. During these 5 decades she was a persevering and often leading member of many church fundraising efforts for the community. Catherine served as president of the Rosary Alter Society and The Legion of Mary. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Catherine is predeceased by her husband Minze Ciaravino. She is survived by siblings Mary Anne Willis in Thornton, Colorado, Dorothy Salvato in Wethersfield, Connecticut, and Dennis Palazzolo in East Islip, New York. Her children Geralann (Frank) LaFata in Manorville, New York, Teresa (William) Muenkel in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, James (Connie) Ciaravino in Islip Terrace New York. Her grandchildren Ryan LaFata, Frank (Megan) LaFata, Brandon Muenkel, Joseph (Erica) Muenkel, Michael (Nicole) Ciaravino, Cristin Ciaravino (fiance’ Cayce Ortale), Laura (John) Klein. Catherine had five great-grandchildren, Connor and Johnny Klein, Peyton and Lucas Ciaravino and Parker LaFata. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 3 to 5 PM and 6 to 9 PM at Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in East Islip, New York. Funeral Mass will be at St. Peter’s RC Church in Islip Terrace at 9:30 AM Monday the 28th. She will be buried next to her husband in Calverton National Cemetery.
