Obituary

Ellen Butler, Maggio, of West Islip and Del Ray Beach Florida passed away on February 2 at 85 years of age.  Born in Brooklyn and raised in Baldwin (Class of 54).  Predeceased by her parents Duncan and Ellen Maggio and sister Linda Koehl. Survived by sister Susan Procida. Ellen moved to West Islip in 1959 and raised her 4 children, Thom(Laura), Beth(Al), Jim(Marie) and Michael(Wendy). Beloved grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Erica Arruda, Chase Daudet, Tom, Theresa, Hannah &Cole Butler, Samantha and James Butler, Brenna and Mason Butler, and Taylor Lopez. Beloved great grandmother of 6, Jagger, Julian, Emmerson, Logan, Chase and Atlas. Ellen so loved her nieces and nephews, Rich(Dara) Koehl, Frank(Mimi) Procida, Tom(Lisa) Procida and Kristen(Max) D’Orazio.  Loving known as “D” to her great nieces and nephews. Loving cousins Mary & Bill Hartmann and Denise(Ben) Komnick.   Ellen retired after a long career at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage and Virginia Beach. After moving to Del Ray Beach she became the president of High Point Section 6 where her impressive run was 18 years. She retired from that position in January of 2021.    Ellen’s life was a life well lived.
