Obituary

Scherrer, John Carl., Sr., of West Islip and Bay Shore, LI, on January 28, 2022, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 53 years to Sharyn Ann Scherrer. Devoted father of John Carl (Susan Marie) Scherrer, Jr., Sandra Robina (Christopher Donadio) Scherrer and Eric Charles (Tamara) Scherrer. Cherished grandfather of Jade, Lauren, Matilda, Jackson, Cody and James. Dear brother of Richard Scherrer, and the late Alfred E. and Charles W. John was born in the Bronx, graduated West Islip High School in 1962 and also graduated SUNY Farmingdale with an Associates degree. He met Sharyn at Mystic Bar, they were engaged at Toddler house and married at St. Luke’s in Bay Shore. John was Scoutmaster of Troop 153 in Bay Shore from 1989 until 1996, he coached Softball and also served as President of the West Islip Little League. He worked for 40 years in the NYS Department of Transportation. John was a proud United States Army Veteran and a longtime member of the West Islip Fire Department. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Visiting Wednesday 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Religious Service will be held at 7:30 PM. A Firematic Service will be held at the Funeral Home Wednesday at 8:00 PM. Cremation will be private.
