Obituary

Emma Kleemann was born on March 26, 1930 in Ketsch, Germany but currently resided in Bethpage, New York. Emma was married to Eugene Kleemann (pre-deceased) for 69 years. and is survived by her beloved family. She was a loving mother to John, Rosemarie (pre-deceased), Eugene, Rosanne, Richard, and Corrine as well as Diana (daughter-in-law), and Tom (son-in-law). Emma was so proud of her grandchildren Kymberly, Jake, Marissa and Danny. Emma loved to entertain and cook for her family, gardening, knitting, sewing and was a member in a local German club. Emma was most known for her love story as she met Eugene while he was stationed in Germany.  They both wrote each other letters for more than 3 years before Eugene asked Emma to marry him. Eugene then convinced the president of Columbia University to help bring Emma to the U.S., so the two could wed. Within one month of Emma being an American citizen, the two tied the knot. A few years later they started their family and traveled to Germany often to visit Emma's family.  A visitation service will be held on Thursday, May 27 at Chapey & Sons, in Bethpage from 4-8pm. Donations can be made in Emma's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or ASPCA.
